As the others cried bitterly, she remained silent. Her husband was critically injured in an accident. The doctor was not exactly forthcoming on how critical it was, but he did announce that his heart was very weak. He then came to her and told her that her husband was conscious, and he wanted to see her. Amidst cries of “What will you do now?” and “That sinner has left his poor pregnant wife behind”, she walked towards him and sat there for sometime.

He died sometime later.

6 months later, she still thought of that day. Her daughter was 3 months old. He had always loved to drive his bike rashly. Since she was pregnant, she had commuted by auto that day and hence escaped. “You always ride the bike better”, was the comment she always made. The door bell rang and she came out of her thoughts. Well, he might have survived. But then, telling him that the child wasnt his,  didnt help his heart, did it? She opened the door to welcome the father of her child and her husband.

Liked it.. 🙂 As usual you spin yarns really well. If I may say so.. I find you stories better much better than the articles. Maybe due to the fictional content 🙂

    @ Aparna,

Maybe true. I find it quite easy to twist a story rather than writing an article. And glad that you liked the story 🙂
