Nostalgia

She had got a phone call from him. After all these years. It must be, wait, around 6 years since they had last met in their college. Amongst those snickering friends. When she didnt actually know if it was love, or infatuation or just plain lust. She had been a bomb in her college and he was also good looking with a good body. It had been a pity that they hadnt gone beyond a few “accidental” touches and a last good bye hug. He had expressed desire to meet her at a local store. “Catch up with old, good times”, he had said. With “Today? At 5 pm?”, he had concluded the call.

She lit her cigarette as she contemplated her move. That was another habit he had taught her. It was one thing with habits. They stay long after the person who introduce it to us vanish from our lives. She coughed a little as she dabbed on lipstick and took her handbag. She flagged an auto and got into it. As she came to that meeting point, she scanned the area for him. She found him atlast, in a jean and worn out shirt.

She asked the auto guy to drive on. 6 years of separation will bring an element of forced conversation into their meeting. She liked the old times. She wanted it to remain good, “For old times sake”
